Wellness · iOS app · Independent · Launched. Case study by Eugen Stoicov, Senior Product Designer in Vienna.
From a personal idea to a launched breathing app: guided sessions, 20+ patterns and exercises you can make your own.
An independently designed and built iOS app for guided breathing, with a searchable catalogue, custom patterns and session progress.
A personal need became an independent product. I wanted breathing exercises to feel approachable enough to start, with a clear rhythm to follow.
I owned the product, design and build. The scope spans the app’s visual identity, exercise catalogue, session experience, custom controls and companion website.
The iOS app is available on the App Store. It includes 20+ breathing patterns and custom exercises. The companion website offers another way to discover the product and try a selection of exercises.
The home screen brings completed sessions, time spent and favourite exercises together. Distinctive shapes give the exercises a recognisable visual identity.
The app offers more than 20 breathing patterns. Search, categories, durations and visible breathing counts help people browse the options before starting a session.
The session view puts the breathing cue at the centre, with remaining time above and pause and finish below. The visual hierarchy shifts from choosing an exercise to following it.
The custom exercise editor exposes inhale, exhale and hold durations alongside the number of cycles. The total duration stays visible before the exercise is created.
The website introduces o-two and offers a selection of browser-based exercises. It supports discovery alongside the launched app.
